Gravitational-Wave Advanced Detector Workshop
May 10-15, 2009
Lago Mar Resort, Ft Lauderdale, Florida
The last Gravitational Wave Advanced Detector Workshop, in Elba, explored a
wide range of directions for future gravitational wave detectors. The goals of
this workshop are:
- to identify the scientific motivations for different detector sensitivities and frequency ranges,
- to discuss the most promising techniques for achieving the required sensitivity and frequency coverage,
- to review R&D progress in these areas, and
- to foster international collaboration aimed at optimizing the use of the community resources.
Each day of the workshop will consist of about six hours of scheduled talks and discussion as well as scheduled workshop interactions. The nature of the housing, with all participants living under the same roof, at the Lago Mar Resort, encourages extensive opportunities for informal scientific exchange. We intend to continue the Aspen model, with a long break between the morning and late afternoon sessions.
